Tannery workers
The  Tannery Workers represent the hard, unpleasant labour of the workers in the town’s tanneries.

A major industry for Runcorn. It was at one time the country's largest producer of hides and the five, large tanneries supplied both world wars.

Runcorn reputedly supplied the leather used by George Hoby of St James' London to produce the first
Wellington Boots for the Duke of Wellington and his army during the battle of Waterloo in 1815.
